Soft winter light

Connecticut shoreline photography, Branford family portraits, children’s portraits in Connecticut

I know it’s technically not winter yet, but around dusk the light really feels like winter light to me these days, particularly now that most of the leaves have gone from the trees.  Dusk in wintertime has a very particular color and feel, and as much as I dislike winter, I do LOVE this light.  In the first few photos below of this amazing family with a gorgeous little girl, the light is mostly diffused and very soft, as the sun was setting completely out of our range.  There is a beautiful glow on their skin though, to offset the darker background tones.  In the 2nd half of the post, we came into view of the setting sun, and ended up with a beautiful warm ball of light in the background of the images (which I think I’d choose to have in all of my photos at the moment, if I could ;)).  If you like this type of light, think about booking a winter session.  You can always warm up with hot chocolate after (or even better, bring it with you, for something fun and candid for me to photograph :)).  Thank you for a wonderful session, you guys.  I love photographing you!
