New Year’s Resolutions

Family photography in Connecticut, lifestyle photographer in New Haven County

I’m not very good at coming up with or remembering personal new year’s resolutions, but professional ones seem to stick with me throughout the year, maybe because they are so fun!  One of the things I love about photography is that there is *always* room for growth, no matter how many years you’ve had a camera in your hand.  I’ve spent the past couple of weeks defining my goals for this year.  Always at my core, no matter which way I might try to extend my range, my goal is to keep learning and growing as a family lifestyle photographer, meeting new families and deepening my relationships with all those that have supported my business in the past (thank you!!!).  In 2014 I’d like to also stretch myself in these ways:

1.  Tell more stories all within one frame.

2.  Photograph more happy couples.

3.  Play more with backlighting (lighting that is coming from behind your subject and into the camera).

4.  Create more composites.

5.  Get myself into a few more photos (perhaps more a personal goal but I’m including it here so I stick to it!).  I told Max he could put his cold hands on my middle in exchange for looking at the camera for a photo with his brother ;-).

Do you have any photo goals for 2014?
